Beverly-Vermont Community Land Trust

Beverly-Vermont Community Land Trust (BVCLT) received its first-ever national CCHD grant in 2021.  It has received a total of three grants, including its most recent grant of $75,000 for the 2023-2024 grant cycle, for a total of $140,000.

At issue is that the BVCLT espouses distinctly Marxist viewpoints and is run by sexual deviants openly promoting LGBT ideologies.

On BVCLT’s “About Us” page, it clearly and distinctly points out its disposition against “capitalism” and “white supremacy” while espousing notions such as “collective ownership” and “equitable access to wealth.”

On its page titled “Our Team,” BVCLT lists a number of individuals using various pronouns, such as “(they/them),” “(she/they),” “(they/he/haej),” “(he/they),” and “(he/sis).”  The president of BVCLT is Matthew Vu, whom BVCLT describes as a “queer” which ascribing to him the pronouns “he/sis.”

In June 2015, Vu celebrated “gay marriage” with a rainbow overlay on his facebook profile picture.

On 27 March 2013, Vu expressed his hope that the SCOTUS would rule in favor of same-sex “marriage.”  The image he used to express this thought was the socialist image of the black fist raised on a red background.

Vu has several pictures of him on facebook in various effeminate poses and with colored hair, including this one from 21 November 2020.

On 24 September 2018, Vu posted a video celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, which launched the LGBT movement.

On 15 September 2018, Vu announced that he stands with Planned Parenthood.

BVCLT’s “Our Team” indicates that Haejin Bang – its Director for Cultural Arts and Base Building – is “trans.”

It also indicates at the very bottom of the page that he is the “Staff Collective Representative.”

On 28 July 2025, The Alliance for California Traditional Arts published an interview with Bang.  The interview, done specifically “in honor of LGBTQ Pride and Disability Pride Months,” is peppered with admissions that Bang identifies as “trans,” Bang firmly establishes that he is “a trans person who is transitioning.”

Conclusion

As with so many CCHD-funded groups, BVCLT is run by sexual deviants whose ideologies are antithetical to what the Catholic Church teaches.  As such, the organization itself has adopted socialist notions which run directly counter to Catholic social teaching.
