Two weeks ago, the Catholic bishops of the United States met in Louisville, KY for their annual plenary meeting. One of the topics for the meeting was the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD), the official anti-poverty program of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). In April, the long-term executive director of the CCHD, Ralph McCloud, departed his post without explanation, and evidence of the financial failure of the program came to light.
During the meeting, which took place on June 13, the National Catholic Reporter stated that Bp. Thomas Paprocki of Springfield, IL and Abp. Joseph Naumann of Kansas City, KS suggested closing down the CCHD and converting it to something more effective like a collection for Catholic education. NCR then claimed that Cardinal Joseph Tobin of Newark, NJ gave a “powerful endorsement of the work” of the CCHD. The Tablet characterized it as a “forceful defence of the programme.”
What Cdl. Tobin is defending are organizations like Planting Justice, which prayed to demons before a pentagram-laden “altar,” in their office, during a staff meeting. CCHD also gave a $65,000 grant to the Fund for the City of New York, which provides grants of its own to organizations promoting abortion, LGBT ideologies, and outright witchcraft. And those are just the most recent examples.
Other CCHD-funded organizations that are involved in the occult and other evil activities include:
The Ostara Initiative – Originally called “Isis Rising,” the name of the organization is derived from a Wiccan word celebrating “spring and regrowth” or “rebirth,” which has a Wiccan holiday of the same name. Furthermore, the logo of the Ostara Initiative incorporates the Wiccan symbolism for the Wheel of the Year, relating to the name Ostara. The logo of the Ostara Initiative’s project called the Minnesota Prison Doula project is the symbol of the “Triple Goddess” from Wicca. And beyond the strong connection to occult paganism, the Ostara Initiative is on the record as helping to advocate for and facilitate abortion for women in prison.
Brandworkers – This organization, endorsed the pro-abortion International Women’s Strike, its executive director participated in pro-abortion women’s marches, it promoted socialist ideology on social media, It is intimately involved with IWW – a socialist organization including a branch co-founded by Brandworker’s founder, It hosted and promoted IWW campaigns and a pro-communist book release, It posted job announcements specifically encouraging LGBT individuals and those who support LGBT ideologies to apply, it honored LGBT activists, AND it promoted occult tarot card readings.
ABLE NH – This organization Partnered with Planned Parenthood to develop a statement on people with disabilities to make Planned Parenthood’s “services” more acceptable to the population of people with disabilities; promoted Planned Parenthood on Social Media; promoted a Planned Parenthood event titled, “Sex & Disability!”; promoted sex education programs that promote masturbation, contraception and abortion to people with disabilities; posted a pro-abortion message on social media; was a vendor at the Queen City Pride festival; and avidly promotes homosexuality and transgenderism.
We have profiled hundreds of such organizations, many of which can be reviewed on our page dedicated to the CCHD, www.lepantoin.org/cchd. But what is particularly apropos of Cardinal Tobin’s defense of CCHD grantees – especially as it pertains to those involved in the occult – is the fact that Cardinal Tobin is responsible for a radio station that regularly broadcasts outright satanic “music.”
In August of 2020, the Lepanto Institute proved that the radio station, WSOU, falls directly under Cardinal Tobin’s authority. WSOU is the official radio station of Seton Hall University which holds the broadcasting license. Seton Hall is a diocesan university, which means that it is owned by the diocese, sponsored by the diocese, and controlled by the local bishop. We also proved that WSOU is broadcasting death metal with lyrics that:
- provide a ritual for giving one’s self over to total possession by the devil
- depicts a murder-suicide where the singer finds “absolution” in someone’s death and a need to “swallow every blasphemy” before hanging himself
- denies and rejects God’s promise of salvation and the forgiveness of sins for those who repent and denies the resurrection of the body.
- describes the ritual murder of a virgin for a satanic ceremony
- describe a dark ritual involving demon worship
Following our report, Seton Hall responded by claiming that our report was nothing but “misinformation.” So, we decided it was necessary to produce a video report (below) showing the evidence right from the source. Seton Hall’s defense of this ongoing demonic broadcast is completely unconscionable!
Even the Apostolic Nuncio was informed of what is broadcast by WSOU, and no action has been taken.
What needs to be understood here is that the defense of grants from the CCHD going to organizations deeply-connected with the occult is intimately tied to one responsible for satanic broadcasts coming from a “Catholic” radio station under his direct authority. If Cardinal Tobin is willing to ignore the kind of filth broadcast from his own radio station, then it should be no surprise that he is ignoring the CCHD grants going to practitioners of the occult as well.
But what needs to be asked is how many other bishops are going to ignore this, also?
