City Roots Community Land Trust
City Roots Community Land Trust (CRCLT) received its first-ever national CCHD grant in 2020. It has received a total of three grants, including its most recent grant of $75,000 for the 2022-2023 grant cycle, for a total of $225,000.

At issue is that the CRCLT has itself promoted LGBT ideologies, “sexual and reproductive health” messaging, and lauded a “Socialist Icon.” Furthermore, its principle director and co-executive director both heavily promote abortion and LGBT ideologies.
On 3 October 2019, CRCLT shared a post from another organization, writing: “Sharing in support of our friends at Flower City Noire Collective!” The problem is that the post CRCLT shared clearly identified “women’s sexual and reproductive health” as central to the activity being promoted, which means contraception and abortion:

On 17 July 2023, celebrated the life of a “Socialist Icon” who spoke on how “Community Land Trusts can be an essential tool” in building what he called the “Beloved Community.”

On 5 June 2025, CRCLT posted a calendar of events celebrating “LGBT Pride.”

On that same day, CRCLT reposted pictures from a Pride “kick-off” event centered on “LGBTQ+ youth.”

On 1 July 2025, CRCLT posted about a free gardening program for “LGBTQ+ folks.”

On 16 July 2025, posted shuttle information for transportation to the ROC Pride Festival, The Avenue Pub, and The Bachelor Forum!.

All of this promotion of grave sexual immorality, of course, must be concluded to be both at the direction of and through the example of its leadership. According to CRCLT’s most recent tax form 990, Paul Minor is the “principal officer” and a “Director.”

On 12 May 2022, Minor announced that he would be in attendance at a Planned Parenthood event protesting pro-life laws that restrict abortion.

On 15 May 2022, Minor posted video from the Planned Parenthood event, claiming that Massachusetts had a Constitution that “guarantee a woman’s freedom over her body.”

On 25 June 2022, Minor posted a picture from another pro-abortion event he attended saying, “Pro-abortion rally in Rochester today, fabulous turnout, speakers with specific actions. Signed up to volunteer with Planned Parenthood in many ways.”

That same day, he posted video from the event, and in the comments someone posted a picture of him with a sign indicating that “men are responsible for 100% of unintended pregnancies.”

That same day he also posted a picture of QR Codes people could scan to support Planned Parenthood, the National Network of Abortion Funds, and an “Abortion Finder.”

On 14 November 2024, Minor posted in support of “National Transgender Awareness Week.”

On 21 November 2024, Minor attempted to assert that transgenderism is a perfectly normal state of being because it was once considered by pagans to have been a “gift from the Creator.”

On 26 November 2024, Minor called for the funding of the Trevor Project, directed toward “LGBTQ+ youth.”

On 22 March 2025, Minor said “Me too!” regarding a post that declared “unhesitating” and “wholehearted support” for LGBTQ ideologies and all that falls into that category.

In addition to Paul Minor is Amber Powers – the co-executive director for 2023.

As is typical of so many in this crowd, on 27 June 2015, Powers celebrated the SCOTUS decision to decriminalize same-sex “marriage” with a rainbow overlay on her profile picture.

CONCLUSION
In addition to promoting LGBT ideologies and “sexual and reproductive health” on its own, CRCLT’s own leadership is clearly in support of the same. These ideologies are offensive to Catholic moral teaching and a violation of CCHD grant guidelines. As such, CRCLT should not have received Catholic funding, and should be deemed ineligible for any future funding.
