Cooperacion Santa Ana received funding from the Catholic Campaign for Human Development for three grant cycles between 2021 and 2024 totaling $190,000. Its most recent grant was in the 2023-2024 cycle for $75,000. Unfortunately, Cooperacion Santa Ana’s director, Ana Siria Urzua, is on record promoting “reproductive rights” and posting violent transgender activist imagery on social media.
Cooperacion Santa Ana’s website clearly indicates that Ana Siria Urzua is the director of the organization:
Ana Siria Urzua’s Facebook profile indicates the same:
On March 9, 2021, Ana Siria Urzua posted two images under the heading “Some of my favorite posts/images from today.” The first image is a promotion of International Women’s Day, highlighting the fight for women’s rights including sexual and reproductive rights. The second image is a promotion of transgender violent activism stating, “RESPECT TRANS PEOPLE OR DIE”
Conclusion
Ana Siria Urzua’s promotion of both reproductive rights and violent trans activism indicates a grave risk for continued Catholic funding of Cooperacion Santa Ana, as she is the director of the organization. The saying that personnel is policy has much truth to it. As a general rule we’ve found that CCHD grantees with leadership sympathetic to immoral causes end up involving their organizations in those same causes.
