Land O Lakes facilitated the distribution of contraception in Kenya.
In 2010, Land O Lakes implemented health camps in Kenya, where women can obtain free contraception. This screen capture from Land O’ Lakes’ website specifically states that Land O’ Lakes set up “health camps” where women could “stock-up on their contraceptive method of choice.”
While this web page is no longer available on Land O’ Lakes’ website, the information was corroborated through several other sources. For instance, the organization Land O’ Lakes worked with to implement these health camps was FHI360, which published a report in 2012 verifying and further expounding upon Land O’ Lakes’ activities through these health camps.
In a 2013 document published by FHI360 titled, “Integrating Family Planning into Other Development Sectors,” even more specific information regarding the contraceptives facilitated by Land O’ Lakes. FHI360 explained on page 13 that “Family planning services offered consisted of information and counseling; provision of oral contraceptives, injectables, and condoms; and referrals for long-acting methods.” The previous page provides actual metrics:
In 2012, Land O’ Lakes issued a final report to USAID on its Dairy Development Alliance project in Malawi. One of the project highlights found on page 7 indicated that the distribution of condoms was a part of the project. On page 33, Land O’ Lakes explains how it partnered with Population Services International in order to market and sell condoms to people showing up to the dairy alliance to buy milk.
Conclusion
Land O’ Lakes is using extremely underhanded measures to market hormonal contraceptives and condoms to the poor and hungry in impoverished nations.
Because of Land O’ Lakes’ promotion of these grave moral evils, no Christian could ever, in good conscience, support, provide funds or a clean image for this organization.
