Founded by a pornographer, Population Services International is a population control organization thoroughly committed to the spread of abortifacient birth control, condoms, and abortion itself.

PSI was founded by Phil Harvey.  In 1970, Harvey and his business partner, Dr. Paul Mueller, launched a mail-order sex-toy company called Adam and Eve.  According to this article on Wikipedia, the profits raked in through Adam and Eve were used to launch Population Services International specifically for the purpose of expanding their mail-order sex accessory business:

Adam & Eve was founded in 1970 by physician Paul Mueller and Phil Harvey. It started as a small storefront on one of Chapel Hill, North Carolina‘s main streets, selling condoms and lubricants. It soon became a mail-order catalog selling contraceptives through non-medical channels.

With business generating more than enough revenue to cover costs, the partners wondered if the condom business could create enough of a profit to finance overseas social-marketing projects. If so, they would have the ability to bypass conventional donors and function with complete autonomy. With that, the men launched Population Services International (PSI), and by 1975 were conducting condom marketing programs in Bangladesh and Kenya. Though Harvey left his position as the director in the late 1970s, PSI still sells birth control and health products in over 60 countries and is prominent in international family planning.

Since that time, Population Services International has only gotten worse.

On its own website, PSI makes very clear that they “supply medications and train providers to give women safe, comprehensive medical abortion care and contraceptive services.”

In a program description of one of its projects in India, PSI explained very plainly how it is distributing “safe abortion kits” to young women.

PSI is even procuring and providing impoverished areas with manual vacuum aspersion equipment.  PSI claims that it is for post-abortion care, but the truth is, these devices can be and are used for abortions themselves.

PSI’s website for India lists condoms, oral contraceptives, emergency contraceptives, intrauterine devices, and “safe” abortion kits among its “products.”  PSI also boasts that it has sold more than 2.02 billion condoms in India alone.

On its page about “reducing unsafe abortion,” the firm explains that it “works to increase access to WHO-approved medical abortion drugs.”

PSI’s work isn’t limited to abortion, but also all forms of contraception.  Here are a few things PSI says about its promotion of contraception:

On its page about contraceptive implants, PSI says, “In 2013, we distributed more than 330,000 contraceptive implants … We market contraceptive implants through social franchises in 24 countries.”  That’s 2013, alone!

On its page on oral contraceptives, PSI said, “In 2013, we distributed 49,904,400 oral contraceptives … We began socially marketing oral contraceptives in Bangladesh in 1976, and currently work with oral contraceptives in 31 countries.”

On its page regarding the abortifacient emergency contraceptive pill, PSI said, “In 2013 alone, we distributed 3,252,968 emergency contraception pills … we provide emergency contraception in 10 countries.”

Regarding injectable contraception, PSI said, “In 2013, we distributed 9,056,318 injectable contraceptives … Currently, we provide injectable contraception in 29 countries.”

Conclusion

PSI is guilty of every evil Planned Parenthood is guilty of.  It distributed abortion kits, all forms of contraception, and markets sexual immorality on the youth.

Because of PSI’s unwavering promotion of these grave moral evils, no Christian could ever, in good conscience, support, provide funds or a clean image for this organization.
