When Bishop Peter Baldacchino was appointed to lead the Diocese of Las Cruces, New Mexico, in May 2019, EWTN News noted a singular distinction: he was the first diocesan bishop associated with the Neocatechumenal Way to serve in a mainland U.S. diocese.
