Union de Trabajadores de la Economia Popular (UTEP)

UTEP is also a member of the Organizing Committee for the World Meeting of Popular Movements and is represented twice in the official WMPM 2025 video, at 2:25 and 5:00.

UTEP is strongly connected to the Peronist movement, which is an alternative form of Socialist governance predicated on perpetual motions for “change.”  UTEP was formed by a coalition of Peronist/Kirchnerist organizations, with Movimento Evita as the central and largest component.

Movimento Evita (founded 2004) is explicitly Peronist and revolutionary.  It was part of Kirchnerist coalitions and has held government positions under Peronist administrations. Current UTEP Secretary General Alejandro Gramajo – who represented UTEP at the WMPM and is a member of the WMPM Organizing Committee – and many other leaders come directly from Movimento Evita.

What this means is that UTEP is a “revolutionist” organization.  While it may not advocate for violent revolution, the issue with its ideology is that it engages in perpetual agitation.  It can never be satisfied with any result but must always seek some issue around which to rally – “for the sake of the people.”  Because of this, they celebrate Communists and frequently team up with and march with Communist and Socialist organizations.

On 26 April 2022, UTEP paid tribute to former UTEP secretary Fredy Mariño, whom UTEP also identified as a leader of the Revolutionary Communist Party.

On 3 February 2023, UTEP openly praised and celebrated Socialist dictator Hugo Chavez, who rose to power due to the support of Communist and Socialist parties.  Though he denied being a communist, socialist or Marxist, his policies aligned with socialist principles, eventually leading to mass starvation and the collapse of the Venezuelan economy.  UTEP proclaimed “Chavez Lives! Long live the Bolivarian Revolution! For now and forever!”

On 5 March 2023, UTEP’s Secretary for International Relations posted a celebration of revolutionary socialist Hugo Chavez. UTEP’s official statement was:

10 years ago Hugo Chavez Frías, the Eternal Commander, was physically leaving who became a beacon of revolutionary struggle for the peoples fighting day by day for their ultimate independence.

From the Secretary of International Relations and Sovereignty of the UTEP, we claim this legacy of solidarity between the peoples of our Great Homeland and the world, as well as the firmness with which the anti-imperialist flag held on a continent besieged by those trying to impose their looting projects.

Your determination is an example to follow and multiply until you win.

Long live Chavez and the Bolivarian Revolution! (emphasis added)

On 26 May 2025, UTEP declared, “Revolution is an Eternal Dream!”

On 01 January 2024, UTEP’s Secretary for International Relations celebrated “the socialist and democratic revolution … Commanded by Fidel Castro Ruz.”  The statement celebrates the 65 years of Communist rule and oppression in Cuba saying:

The revolution lives and endures despite a criminal blockade by Yankee imperialism. They are a sign of dignity and a beacon for the peoples of the world that we continue to fight for liberation.
LONG LIVE CUBA AND YOUR REVOLUTION!

On 30 April 2024, UTEP’s Secretary for International Relations celebrated the Communist take-over of Vietnam in 1975 with the US withdrawal from Saigon.  The post specifically celebrates committed Communist Ho Chi Minh, and “49 years of the Triumph of the Vietnamese Revolution.”

UPET regularly posts photos of marches in which it participates, often including Communist and Socialist organizations.  Note the hammer and sickle in these photos.  This is from 18 July 2025.

19 March 2025.  The inclusion of the Blessed Virgin strongly suggests liberation theology is at the root of much of what we are seeing.

That UTEP celebrates Marxists and routinely works with Marxist organizations is undeniable.  And just like all Marxist organizations, UTEP also advocates grave sexual immorality.

On 2 February 2025 (Candlemas), UTEP joined forces with LGBT rights groups and feminist organizations to protest President Javier Milei’s “anti-woke” agenda.  30 January 2025, UTEP announced:

“On Saturday at 4 p.m. we mobilize all over the country in the framework of the federal anti-fascist and anti-racist pride march.”

The following are photos UTEP posted of its participation in this event:

Yet again, an organizational and prominent member of the WMPM is directly tied to grave immorality and political ideologies directly opposed to Catholic social teaching.  UTEP has deep roots in Socialist and Communist ideologies and strong ties to such organizations, and individuals, while openly professing support for grave sexual immorality.
