In a statement Friday, Nutter’s office summarized the message he hopes to deliver to the pope. The comments, addressed to “Your Holiness,” touch on a range of concerns in the LGBT community including alienation from the church, discrimination in housing and employment, and isolation of youth leading to depression and suicide.
Nutter, also in a statement, said that if he has the opportunity for “a serious conversation with Pope Francis,” he plans to “describe Philadelphia’s staunch commitment to equality and inclusion of the LGBT community, our city’s long history of support and love of diversity, and the important role that diverse peoples play in making this a great city.
“For 30 years I have stood as an advocate and ally with and for our LGBT communities,” he continued, “and if given the opportunity to advance these issues on an international stage, I will certainly seize the opportunity.”
In the information we sent to the Archdiocese in August, and subsequently published, we pointed out the following:
- Following the trials of Kermit Gosnell, Nutter touted the “safe” abortions women had access to in Philadelphia.
- In 2011, Nutter launched a massive campaign to distribute condoms to teenagers.
- In January of 2015, Nutter himself conducted a same-sex “marriage” of two Israeli diplomats.
We have been pointing out for months that there was a serious security risk to the Catholic Church by allowing such enemies of Christ to have places of prominence and honors at an event like the World Meeting of Families. Our warnings have been nothing but sincere, and provided with the best of intentions. But the warning was ignored and the viper struck.

This Pope is a tragedy for Catholicism!
Either he is a complete “ASS”, or so dedicated to the demoralization of any remaining Catholics who care! that he ought be removed!!
I surely do NOT know if one can remove a Pope, but if it can be done It should be done!!
He has become the laughing stock of anyone who has had Catechism 101, and the “Foil” of every corrupt movement in society, from “LGBT” to rabid socialism!
Anyone who does not doubt the validity of this pope, need only judge by his fruit. Addresses Congress and gets his biggest ovation when he mentions “life at all its stages”, but then only mentions the death penalty. Demoralised, yes, seemingly intentionally so. Who thinks that applause was for an anti-death position? Boehner invited him? Biden loves him! Of course. Obama must take great comfort in his speeches.

Please pray the Holy Rosary’s third Glorious Mystery – The Coming of the Holy Spirit – for the “establishment” in the Church: that our priests are spiritually capable of saving the souls of sinners led to repentance by a force more powerful than themselves.
